Here Is A Closer Look At SLIPKNOT's New Masks
May 16, 2019As widely expected, the members of SLIPKNOT unveiled brand-new costumes to coincide with the release of their sixth studio album, "We Are Not Your Kind", which will arrive on August 9 via Roadrunner.
A closer look at each of the new masks is available below.
SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor worked on his new mask with special effects legend Tom Savini, whose extensive career in the film industry and especially the horror genre dates back to the late 1970s, including in such films as "Friday The 13th", "Dawn Of The Dead", "From Dusk 'Til Dawn" and many others.
SLIPKNOT's current lineup continues to include drummer Jay Weinberg and bassist Alessandro "Vman" Venturella, who previously played on 2014's ".5: The Gray Chapter" album.
The identity of SLIPKNOT's new percussionist has not been revealed, but he appears in both the band's new video for the song "Unsainted" and in the latest press shot.
SLIPKNOT's previous percussionst Chris Fehn sued the band in March, claiming he hasn't been properly compensated for his years of touring and recording with the group.
Fehn, known for wearing a Pinocchio-style mask, had performed with SLIPKNOT since 1998 and participated in all the band's previous albums.
"We Are Not Your Kind" was once again recorded at a Los Angeles studio with producer Greg Fidelman, who engineered and mixed SLIPKNOT's 2004 album "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)" and helmed ".5: The Gray Chapter".
SLIPKNOT's "Knotfest Roadshow" headline tour will take place in North America this summer. VOLBEAT, GOJIRA and BEHEMOTH will join as special guests on all dates.
Produced by Live Nation, the 29-city outing will kick off July 26 in Mountain View, California at Shoreline Amphitheater and continue through September 8 where it will conclude with a performance at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas.
SLIPKNOT will be the musical guest on the Friday, May 17 episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" The band will perform several songs on the show's outdoor stage in front of a standing-room-only crowd.
